“Hey, Don’t hate the player, hate the game!”

I love this quote from Bad Boys 2. It highlights what I want to talk about so well.

“Don’t hate the player, hate the game!” This is so true and when relating this to sin, it rings even truer.

“Don’t hate the sinner, hate the sin!” However, there was something I had always overlooked in this scene, that is until now. After this hilarious interaction between Will Smith and Martin Lawrence’s characters, Martin Lawrence walks away muttering under his breath, “hate the tailor.”

Which begs the question, Why hate the tailor? And the answer is simple, because the tailor encourages the player to continue playing the game.

I think people forget that God is still very present.

The same God that sent His only son to die for ALL mankind (because of His awesome love for us) is still the same God who destroyed cities for disobedience and sin.

But because the latter doesn’t give us all the warm comfy-cozies, we pretend not to notice it, but guess what? The same God that has abounding love is also the same God that cannot have anything to do with sin.

It’s hard for us to consolidate these two truths, so we drive to one side or the other. Yes radicals come from both sides of this “divide.” (Enter the great bridge builder). That’s why God sent His son. So that we can now understand this simple truth…

Love God and love your neighbor. Do not love sin. We can love people without loving sin. We can not promote sin and still love the sinner. One can argue that because we love the sinner so much, shouldn’t we encourage a life without sin? Or, are we so concerned about our own “worldly status” and our own self-image that we stay silent of such matters?

We don’t want to “offend” or “look mean” so we sit silently as people around us are slowly walking to death just so they like us a little more.

Do not misunderstand me. I’m not say condemn people for their sin. If that’s what I was saying, you would have every right to condemn me as well. What I am saying is don’t encourage or support sin, rather support and encourage a life free from sin.

Don’t be the tailor! And just to clarify, don’t hate the tailor either.

I speak as a man concerning such things, (a chief of sinners) with only the words of the Lord to guide.

Don’t become so conformed to this world that you fit into it without even realizing it. For the wages of sin is death but the gift of God is eternal life through Christ.

For all have sinned and fallen short of Gods glory. But because of Christ, we can now deny our sins and our selfishness and accept Christ and live in freedom from sin.

Romans road.

Love you all! And remember, keep worshiping!!!
